Exports from Hairatan Port Surge by 70 Percent in One Year

Officials from the Balkh Chamber of Commerce and Investment have announced that the value of exports of domestic products through the Hairatan commercial port has reached $181 million in the past year, marking a significant increase compared to the previous year 1403 in the Iranian calendar. According to these officials, the export value via this port was about $104 million in 1403, indicating a growth of over 70 percent. They describe Hairatan port as one of the most important trade gateways in northern Afghanistan, playing a crucial role in transporting goods to regional markets. Among the exported items during this period are carpets, gypsum, steam boilers, dried and fresh fruits, as well as rock salt and refined salt. Located in Balkh province, Hairatan port is connected to the railway network, making it one of Afghanistan’s key trade routes. However, some economic experts emphasize that the Taliban administration needs to release trade statistics with more detail and complete transparency to enable an accurate assessment of the export situation and its impact on the country’s economy.
