WHO Honors Afghan Health Workers for Malaria Efforts on World Malaria Day

The World Health Organization (WHO), on the occasion of World Malaria Day, has expressed gratitude to health workers across Afghanistan for their ongoing efforts in diagnosing, treating, and preventing the disease. The organization emphasized that the role of these health workers is vital and decisive in protecting communities and saving patients’ lives.

According to WHO, health workers continue to provide diagnostic and treatment services daily in various regions of the country despite challenges, and they also play an active role in awareness and prevention efforts.

In its statement, WHO underscored that the fight against malaria requires urgent and coordinated action, stressing: “We can act now, and we must act now.”

World Malaria Day is observed annually to raise awareness about ways to prevent and treat the disease, which is transmitted by mosquitoes and remains a serious public health threat in some tropical areas.
