Taliban Gunfire at Pakistani Drones in Nimroz Kills One, Injures Another

Local sources in Nimroz province report that Taliban forces fired at Pakistani drones over the city of Zaranj, resulting in one civilian death and one injury. The incident occurred on the morning of Monday, April 20, in the provincial capital. According to sources, the two individuals were inside a vehicle in Zaranj when they were hit by gunfire. The shots were fired after Taliban forces opened fire on drones flying above the city. The Taliban security command in Nimroz has confirmed the shooting at the unmanned Pakistani aircraft. Sources say these Pakistani drones had been patrolling the province’s airspace since the evening of the previous day. Over the past two months, amid ongoing tensions between the Taliban administration and Pakistan, the frequency of Pakistani drone flights over certain areas of Afghanistan has increased. In similar incidents, Taliban gunfire targeting these aircraft has caused civilian casualties and damage, raising concerns about the safety of local residents and how the Taliban authorities are managing the situation.
