Taliban Forces Seize 4,382 Copper Ingots, Prevent Smuggling in Helmand

The Taliban Defense Directorate has announced that forces affiliated with the 215 Azm Army Corps prevented the smuggling of 4,382 copper ingots in the Bahramcha district of Helmand province. According to the statement, the shipment was discovered and confiscated in the Rabat area of this district.

The released statement noted that smugglers intended to illegally export these copper ingots out of the country. No details have been provided regarding the identities or fates of the individuals arrested in connection to this case.

Additionally, during the operation, some medical equipment—reportedly being illegally brought into the country—was also seized. The source added that the equipment was burned by security forces after being confiscated; a move that raises questions about the management and inspection of such items amid widespread healthcare needs.

The 215 Azm Army Corps statement emphasized that security and defense forces will not allow illegal import or export activities and that serious and ongoing measures against such acts will continue. However, the Taliban administration has yet to provide further details on the investigation process or the transparent handling of smuggling cases.
