Taliban Delegation Travels to Uzbekistan for International Drug Threats Conference

The Taliban’s Ministry of Interior has announced that the deputy head of its anti-narcotics department is leading an official delegation to the city of Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The visit aims to participate in the international conference titled “Global Drug Threats.”

Abdul Mateen Qan, spokesperson for the Taliban’s Ministry of Interior, wrote on X today, Saturday, April 18, that this delegation has departed for Uzbekistan to attend the conference. According to him, the conference is set to begin on Monday.

According to the information provided, the conference will focus on discussing the global threats posed by drugs and exploring ways to strengthen joint cooperation to combat the issue. Further details regarding the delegation’s composition and any possible bilateral meetings have not yet been disclosed.

Afghanistan has been one of the countries heavily affected by drug cultivation and trafficking in recent years, and the fight against narcotics has consistently been a topic in regional and international meetings.
