25-Year-Old Man Dies by Suicide in Samangan Amid Mounting Concerns Over Youth Mental Health

Local sources in Samangan province report that a 25-year-old man has died by suicide in the provincial capital. The incident occurred on Wednesday, October 21, in an orchard in the city of Aybak, the capital of Samangan.

The young man, identified as Nematullah Rahimi, reportedly hanged himself without leaving a clear explanation for his actions. The motive behind his suicide remains unknown, raising numerous questions about the mental health and social conditions of youth across the country.

The Taliban administration in Samangan has confirmed the incident and announced that an investigation is underway to determine the reasons and circumstances surrounding the case. The Taliban have faced growing criticism for their lack of policies and programs addressing psychological and social issues.

A rise in similar incidents in recent months has heightened concerns over the deteriorating mental health situation and the increasing social pressures on young people in Afghanistan. Limited access to mental health services and the stifling environment attributed to the Taliban’s governance are believed to be contributing factors to the mental health crisis among Afghan youth.
