Taliban Forces Seize 26 Illegal Firearms in Paktia Province

A spokesperson for the Taliban Ministry of Defense announced that the forces of the Third Border Brigade seized 26 illegal firearms last night in the village of Qarghai, Andar District, Paktia Province. According to Sadiqullah Nusrat, among the confiscated weapons were 20 Krinkov rifles, four Kalashnikovs, and two M4-type firearms. He did not provide details on how the weapons were transported or if any individuals were arrested in connection with the seizure. Paktia Province is located in southeastern Afghanistan near the Durand Line, an area where reports of weapon smuggling and illegal crossings have been frequent in recent years. However, the Taliban administration has yet to provide clear information on potential arms trafficking networks or ongoing measures to control this issue, raising concerns about continued insecurity and the illegal circulation of weapons in some border provinces.
