Clashes Erupt in Paktika Following Pakistani Military Attacks

Following attacks by Pakistani army forces in Barmal district of Paktika province, Afghan forces launched defensive and retaliatory operations. Sources told media outlets that the clashes were initially started by Pakistani soldiers.

According to sources, the initial assaults were carried out by the Pakistani army, after which Afghan forces responded. So far, no details regarding possible casualties or damages from these clashes have been released.

At the same time, it was reported that Pakistani forces fired seven mortar rounds into certain areas of Kamdish district in Nuristan province. Nuristan, an eastern province of Afghanistan sharing a border with Pakistan, has witnessed border tensions in recent years.

The escalation of these clashes comes while the Taliban administration is responsible for security and border management. Given the history of border tensions between the two countries, it is expected that the Taliban administration will adopt a clear and accountable approach to protecting residents of border areas against such repeated incidents.
