Death Toll from Israeli Attacks on Lebanon Reaches 89 Amid Fragile Ceasefire

Lebanon’s Ministry of Health has reported that at least 89 people have died and 722 others have been injured following Israeli airstrikes on parts of Lebanon on Wednesday. These attacks occurred despite a ceasefire agreement announced early this morning between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to Lebanese media reports, the strikes targeted several areas, especially in Beirut and its surrounding regions. The Ministry of Health stated that the transfer of the wounded to hospitals is ongoing, and the death toll is expected to rise.

In response, Ofer Cassif, a member of the Israeli parliament, said that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government is undermining the ceasefire by continuing the air attacks. He emphasized that this action could lead to further political and security consequences.

The Wall Street Journal, citing sources involved in the ceasefire talks, reported that Israel was dissatisfied with the timing details of the agreement and was informed about them later than expected; however, this claim has not been independently confirmed by Israeli officials.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a statement warning that if attacks on Lebanon continue, it will deliver a “regrettable response.” The statement stressed that a retaliatory action will be taken if the attacks do not cease.

These recent developments have once again heightened concerns about the fragility of the ceasefire and the potential escalation of conflicts in the region, which could impact broader regional stability and security.
