Japan-Backed UNDP Projects to Support Livelihoods Completed in Afghanistan

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has announced the completion of three support projects in Afghanistan, funded by Japan and implemented in cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). These projects focused on strengthening livelihoods and increasing the resilience of local communities.
According to released information, over 5,900 women have been supported in income-generating sectors and economic improvement activities as part of these initiatives. Additionally, 600 solar-powered greenhouses have been established to boost agricultural production and reduce dependency on traditional energy sources.
Alongside these efforts, approximately 18,000 saplings were planted across various areas to help improve the environment, prevent soil erosion, and strengthen natural resources.
These projects have been completed amid significant economic challenges and widespread restrictions faced by many residents of Afghanistan. International organizations have consistently emphasized the need to continue supporting vulnerable communities, especially women. Sustaining such programs can play a crucial role in improving family livelihoods and strengthening the local economy.
