Official Toll of Floods Announced: Over 3,400 Homes Destroyed Nationwide

The National Disaster Management Authority under the Taliban administration has reported that recent floods across several provinces of the country have resulted in 77 deaths and 137 injuries. According to the authority, these incidents occurred between the 6th and 15th of Hamal month, and four individuals have also been reported missing.

Officials also noted that the floods have blocked several key communication routes between provinces, making access to some areas difficult.

Afghanistan experiences deadly floods annually during the rainy season; however, the lack of effective prevention programs, poor crisis management, and insufficient standard infrastructure remain significant challenges in reducing casualties and losses. Many residents of vulnerable areas have repeatedly called for practical measures to control the floods and timely assistance for those affected.
