Russia Says Ukrainian Tanker Attacks Threaten Energy and Food Markets

Russia’s foreign ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova has accused Ukraine of carrying out targeted attacks on tankers and trying to destabilise global energy and food markets.

Zakharova said on Tuesday that Russian retaliatory strikes against Ukraine’s military and economic capabilities had, in her view, been effective.

Russia’s foreign ministry said international pressure on Kyiv could help ensure global food security. The ministry also claimed that Ukraine has repeatedly violated shipping agreements.

Moscow added that signing memorandums without creating an enforcement mechanism is not enough to solve shipping problems.
