Taliban administration announces date for medical exit exam

The National Examinations Administration, under Taliban control, has announced that the medical licence exam, or the “exit” exam, for graduates of general medicine will be held on Friday.
Naseer Khan Shirzai, the administration’s spokesman, said on Thursday, 16 Mizan, that the exit exam for graduates of the general medicine programme will be taken tomorrow.
According to him, the exit exam for dentistry graduates will be held on 24 Mizan.
The exclusion of women from taking this exam has, according to health sources and institutions in the past, prevented thousands of women from entering the formal health workforce and has made access to health services more difficult for women and girls. In Afghanistan, the exit exam is regarded as one of the steps required to obtain a licence to work in the medical sector.
