Flights Suspended Again at Riyadh Airport After Reports of Explosions

FlightRadar has said that Riyadh Airport, the capital of Saudi Arabia, has been closed again and inbound and outbound flights at the airport have been suspended.

According to information published by the online flight-tracking service, landing operations were halted for more than 80 minutes and takeoff operations for more than 90 minutes.

At the same time, Iraq’s NTV reported in a breaking news update that the sound of “powerful explosions” had been heard in Riyadh. Reuters also reported, citing eyewitnesses and three informed sources, that smoke rose on Thursday from a stationary aircraft at Riyadh Airport.

Meanwhile, Agence France-Presse had reported hours earlier that multiple explosions were heard in Riyadh. Sources linked to international air navigation also said that, following these developments, Riyadh Airport had moved to the top of the list of the world’s “unsettled and unscheduled” airports.
