National Resistance Front Rejects Taliban Video on Alleged UNAMA Attack Plot

The National Resistance Front of Afghanistan has said it rejects a video published by the Taliban administration in connection with an allegation that it plotted an attack on the office of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) in Kabul, saying the confessions shown in it were “obtained under duress.”

In a statement on Thursday, 16 October, the front described the Taliban video as a “forced narrative” and said it was part of a “disinformation campaign.”

The statement said: “Information obtained under pressure from the Taliban has no credibility whatsoever,” adding that international security bodies should treat such cases with “serious suspicion and caution.”

The National Resistance Front also said the Taliban administration made a similar claim three years ago, alleging that the front had intended to attack UNAMA in Kabul.

The front has called on UNAMA and international security bodies to conduct an independent investigation into how the video was produced and the conditions under which the confessions were taken.

The National Resistance Front stressed that it does not target civilians, diplomatic and international institutions, or unarmed people, and described its activities as a struggle against the Taliban administration and an effort to “restore the rule of law.”
