Kabul Municipality Finalises Plan to Build Flyover at Airport Junction

Kabul Municipality has announced that it has finalised plans to build a flyover with loop ramps at Kabul Airport Junction after what it described as a “comprehensive” assessment.
The junction is located at the intersection of the Kabul-Jalalabad highway and the road leading to Kabul airport, a point that, according to the municipality, serves a significant share of traffic in some of the city’s most densely populated areas.
Kabul Municipality did not provide further details on when work will begin, the cost of the project or how traffic will be managed during construction.
Airport Junction is considered one of Kabul’s main traffic bottlenecks and sits on the connecting route between the Kabul-Jalalabad highway and the airport road, a corridor used daily by heavy volumes of urban traffic.
