Israeli Investigators Say Flydubai Co-Pilot Acted Alone, Sources Tell CBS News

Israeli investigators reviewing the case of a Flydubai co-pilot have concluded that he acted alone, informed sources told CBS News, even though the UAE attorney general had previously said the findings of the investigation showed the co-pilot intended to carry out a terrorist operation.

According to CBS News, the co-pilot had worked briefly for Oman Air, where he had received pilot training. Informed sources said monitoring by the Omani government showed he was visiting extremist websites, after which the airline moved him to an administrative role.

One source said that after this transfer, he resigned from his duties and left Oman Air around 2024. According to the sources, he once posted a video of Air Arabia planes in Dubai that ended with an image of Ayman al-Zawahiri, the leader of al-Qaeda.

The report said al-Zawahiri was killed in a 2022 US drone strike. CBS News cited informed sources in the case for this information.
