Intelligence Vehicle Blown Up, Taliban Checkpoint Attacked in Faizabad

Several security incidents have been reported in Faizabad over the past week. Early this morning, an explosion in the city’s sixth district targeted a vehicle belonging to the Taliban intelligence department. Local sources say several members of the department were killed in the incident.
Reports also say that armed anti-Taliban fighters attacked a checkpoint run by the Taliban administration near the governor’s office last night, sparking clashes between the two sides.
Rahmatullah Najib, the Taliban-appointed governor of Badakhshan, claimed on Sunday, 12 Mehr, that security is fully in place across Afghanistan, especially in Badakhshan, and that no area is under the control of opposition forces. He rejected reports of insecurity and said the opposition has no ability to seize any area.
At the same time, Najib warned that no one should take action or rebel against the Taliban administration, saying opponents would face a strong response. He described the security situation in Badakhshan as stable.
