Pakistan’s Balochistan sees 213% rise in security incident deaths, report says

Pakistan’s Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) said in a new report that 186 security incidents were recorded in Balochistan in the third quarter of 2026, leaving 829 people dead. That figure accounted for 59% of all those killed in Pakistan. The number of deaths in the province rose 213% from the previous quarter, when 265 people were killed.
According to the report, 385 security incidents were recorded across Pakistan, including militant attacks and counter-operations by military forces. These incidents left 1,415 people dead and 558 injured.
Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were the country’s most volatile provinces during this period, with 98% of all fatalities recorded in the two provinces. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 173 security incidents led to the deaths of 556 people, or 39% of the country’s total fatalities, marking a 17% increase from the previous period.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also recorded the highest number of injuries, with 376 people wounded, while 163 were injured in Balochistan. CRSS described the rise in violence from the second to the third quarter of 2026 as the sharpest increase since 2021, saying the trend reversed a decline in violence seen in the first two months of the year.
