Pakistan Army Chiefs Press for Action Against Alleged Militant Bases in Afghanistan

Senior Pakistani army commanders have called for action against the alleged militant bases in Afghanistan, saying recent Pakistani strikes on Afghan soil were counterterrorism operations and a success.

The Dawn newspaper reported on Friday night, 10 Mizan, that the commanders reviewed Pakistan’s security situation at the meeting and stressed the country’s right to defend itself.

According to Dawn, the Taliban administration was accused at the meeting of facilitating militant activity on behalf of India and of being responsible for the consequences. The allegation was made as Pakistan has carried out three air operations inside Afghanistan since Sept. 21, following terrorist incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
