UN to Provide Cash-for-Work Jobs for 2,000 People in Bamiyan

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) says it will create income opportunities for about 2,000 people in Bamiyan through the implementation of a cash-for-work scheme.
The agency said on Thursday, 1 October, that the project will be carried out with support from the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund and as part of the “FOREST” programme. Participants will receive a daily wage in return for their work.
According to UN-Habitat, public welfare work will make up the main part of the project, and its implementation will not only provide income but also help strengthen local communities in Bamiyan.
