Afghanistan’s Jiu-Jitsu Athlete Reaches Asian Games Quarter-Finals

Mohammad Sarwar Hosseini, Afghanistan’s jiu-jitsu athlete, advanced to the quarter-finals of the 2026 Asian Games after defeating his Vietnamese opponent.
He knocked out his rival early this morning in Japan as the competition continued.
In another match, Noorullah Shafaei was defeated by Bahrain’s Abdullah Ali in the 62-kilogram category and was eliminated from the competition.
The jiu-jitsu events at the Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan, are being held with athletes from more than 40 Asian countries taking part. The competition runs from Oct. 1 to 3 at the Aichi Budokan arena, and Afghanistan’s national athletes are competing in several different weight classes.
