Trump and Big Tech Agree on Voluntary AI Safety Standards

U.S. President Donald Trump and executives from several major technology companies have agreed to establish voluntary standards for artificial intelligence safety, in a deal that includes independent assessments of these systems’ performance and measures to prevent unauthorized access to technical tools.

According to Reuters, the companies will work with independent inspectors under the agreement to review the performance of AI systems. They will also put in place measures to prevent these systems from gaining unauthorized or unintended access to technical tools.

Trump said he is also considering setting up a 10-member board to oversee the safety of AI tools.
