Taliban Shuts Down Hazrat Fatima al-Zahra Hospital in Dasht-e-Barchi
Local sources in Kabul say the Taliban administration has shut down the Hazrat Fatima al-Zahra Cooperative Hospital in the Dasht-e-Barchi area, a move that sources say has halted low-cost medical services for low-income residents of this part of the city.
According to sources who spoke to 8am newspaper on Monday, 6 Mizan, armed forces affiliated with the Taliban Ministry of Justice went to the health centre at School Station in western Kabul on Sunday and stopped its operations.
The sources added that Taliban officials forced patients and hospital staff out of the building and then sealed its doors.
The hospital had been operating with financial support from an Iranian charity and provided medical services at low cost to local residents. According to the sources, most of those who visited the centre were low-income people.
The Taliban administration has so far not said why the health centre was closed.
The closure comes as several scientific, cultural and sports centres linked to Shia communities have also been shut in different parts of Kabul over the past two weeks, including religious schools, a university, a television station and a sports stadium. Dasht-e-Barchi is one of the most populated areas of western Kabul, where many Hazara and Shia residents live.
