Trump Says Further U.S.-Iran Talks Possible This Week

U.S. President Donald Trump has said he expects more talks between the United States and Iran to take place this week.

He made the comments on Sunday in an interview with Axios, claiming that despite Iran’s rejection of Washington’s proposal, there was still a possibility of continued contact.

Trump claimed in part: “They want a deal, but it’s not the deal I want. They overplayed it. I expect to talk to Iran this week!”

In response to a question about resuming an attack on Iran, the U.S. president also said: “I’m always thinking about it!”

The remarks come as relations between Tehran and Washington, and their impact on energy markets, remain among the key issues drawing attention in the U.S. political and economic sphere.
