PTI says protests in Pakistan will continue until demands are met

Sohaib Afridi, chief minister of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, has told the media that supporters of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party are ready for long-term protests and that these actions will not stop until their demands are met.
He also claimed that by Oct. 4, the number of protesters would reach a level he said would be unprecedented in Pakistan’s history. Afridi said the anger and discontent he now sees among the public was unlike anything he had witnessed in nearly 18 to 20 years of political activity.
According to him, the protesters who take to the streets on Oct. 4 will be beyond control. He did not provide further details about the specific demands of the protesters or the exact plan for the demonstrations.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is one of Pakistan’s key provinces, bordering Afghanistan, and political and security developments there are usually followed closely in Afghanistan as well.
