US, Pakistan seize 463 kg of crystal meth in joint operation
The U.S. Embassy has said the country’s Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), working with Pakistan’s Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), has seized 463 kilograms of crystal meth in a joint operation.
According to the U.S. Embassy, the shipment was valued at more than $21 million and was due to be transported through Pakistan to Sri Lanka. The embassy said the consignment originated from trafficking networks linked to Afghanistan.
The embassy also said several people have been arrested in connection with the case and further investigations are under way.
It added that cooperation between the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and Pakistani forces, particularly in training, plays a role in identifying and dismantling transnational drug trafficking networks and strengthening regional and global security.
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration is the federal agency responsible for investigating drug-related crimes, while Pakistan’s Anti-Narcotics Force is tasked with combating drug trafficking in that country.
