Peshawar court blocks expulsion of 17 Afghan doctors from hospitals

A Pakistani media outlet has reported that the Peshawar High Court has stopped the expulsion of 17 Afghan doctors who are undergoing specialist training at various hospitals in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the report, the doctors were legally admitted to specialist programmes through a special quota for Afghan citizens.

The move came after Pakistan’s medical and dental council issued notices cancelling their continued studies and ordered them to return to Afghanistan.

Peshawar is the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in northwestern Pakistan, and a number of Afghan students and professionals have gone to the province in recent years for higher and specialist training.
