Taliban Administration Registers Ownership of 2,657 Jeribs of Land in Balkh

The Taliban administration said a special court handling cases of allegedly seized state land in Balkh province has ruled, after reviewing documents and evidence, that more than 2,657 jeribs of land in the Diplomat Town area belongs to the administration.

According to the Taliban administration’s Ministry of Justice, the land is located in Dasht-e Shadian, adjacent to Mazar-e-Sharif, the capital of Balkh province. The published text did not provide further details about the background of ownership of the land or any potential parties to the dispute.

The Taliban administration’s Ministry of Justice also said the process of identifying and returning land referred to as “seized state land” is continuing across the country. The ministry added that relevant bodies responsible for preventing land grabs make decisions in these cases after carrying out the necessary reviews.

Dasht-e Shadian is among the areas near Mazar-e-Sharif in Balkh province, which is located in northern Afghanistan and whose capital, Mazar-e-Sharif, is considered one of the country’s important cities.
