Russia Expresses Concern Over Civilian Casualties in Pakistani Strikes on Eastern Afghanistan
Russia’s embassy in Kabul has expressed concern over civilian casualties following Pakistani airstrikes on parts of eastern Afghanistan, and has called on the parties involved to avoid further escalation.
In a message posted on X on Wednesday, October 1, the embassy offered condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to those injured. The Russian embassy also said disputes should be resolved through dialogue.
Pakistan targeted areas in the provinces of Paktika and Kunar with airstrikes yesterday. According to published information, the attacks killed and wounded a number of civilians.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman for the Taliban administration, condemned the attack and described it as a repetition of war crimes.
Paktika and Kunar are eastern Afghan provinces bordering Pakistan, and tensions and border incidents have repeatedly been reported in these areas in recent years.
