Norway Donates $1.63 Million to Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has announced that Norway has allocated 15 million Norwegian kroner, equivalent to $1.63 million, to the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund.

OCHA wrote on its X account on Monday, Sept. 30, that the aid will be used to continue responding to humanitarian needs across Afghanistan. According to the agency, vulnerable families and those affected by humanitarian crises will be among the main recipients of the assistance.

Afghanistan continues to face a broad humanitarian crisis, and the need for aid remains acute in different parts of the country. Drought, poverty, displacement of families, the return of migrants, and vulnerability to natural disasters have been cited as the main factors driving growing humanitarian needs in the country.

OCHA is the United Nations humanitarian coordination agency, and the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund is one of the mechanisms used to finance emergency responses in different sectors.
