Israel strikes southern Lebanon with air and artillery attacks
Lebanon’s official news agency reported that Israeli warplanes bombed several areas in southern Lebanon from last night until this morning.
According to the report, areas around the town of Kfar Tebnit and the forested region of Ali al-Taher near Nabatiah al-Fawqa were hit in airstrikes.
Israeli army artillery also shelled, in a scattered manner, areas in Nabatiah al-Fawqa, Zawtar al-Sharqiya and the Khallat Mefdoun area between Zawtar al-Sharqiya and Mefdoun in Nabatieh district.
In Bint Jbeil district, the towns of Beit Lif and Haddatha, as well as the area around Aita al-Shaab, were hit by artillery fire. Lebanon’s official news agency also reported shelling of the Wadi al-Sluqi and the area around Toulin in Marjayoun district.
At the same time, Israeli forces fired flares over the towns of Zawtar al-Sharqiya, Marjeyoun, Hula and Haddatha. Heavy machine guns were also used in shootings and search-and-clear operations around the towns of Sarbin and Haddatha, the area around Mays al-Jabal and Wadi al-Sluqi, as well as Wadi Zibqin.
According to the report, Israeli military vehicle movements were also recorded in the towns of Haddatha, Beit Yahoun, Rashit and Mays al-Jabal. Southern Lebanon, along the border with Israel, is considered one of the main areas of tension and conflict between the two sides.
