Da Afghanistan Bank Announces Exchange Process for Worn Banknotes in Provinces
Da Afghanistan Bank has announced that holders of worn banknotes can hand them in at the bank’s branches and all commercial banks in the centre and provinces, and receive sound banknotes in exchange.
According to today’s statement from the bank, banknotes whose appearance has changed due to heavy use, have parts cut off, contain extensive writing on them, or have had their security features largely worn away are considered eligible for exchange, provided their authenticity can be verified.
A visual guide published by Da Afghanistan Bank also says old and softened banknotes that cannot be counted by money-counting machines, as well as banknotes torn into several pieces and repaired with glue, also fall into the category of worn currency.
Da Afghanistan Bank has asked people to share any complaints with the bank’s relevant financial customer rights department if they face problems during the exchange process. According to the bank, complaints filed in this regard will be addressed quickly.
