Taliban Says More Than 617,000 Migrants Have Returned From Iran and Pakistan

The Taliban administration has said that in the first six months of the current solar year, more than 617,000 migrants have returned to Afghanistan from Iran and Pakistan.

Hamdullah Fitrat, the Taliban administration spokesman, wrote on his X account on Wednesday, 25 September, that nearly 180,000 of these migrants entered Afghanistan from Iran.

According to him, more than 437,000 others have also returned from Pakistan. The Taliban administration did not provide further details in this report on how these people returned or on their accommodation and care.

Fitrat also said that more than 1,000 other migrants entered the country just yesterday. In recent years, Afghanistan has faced successive waves of returning migrants from neighbouring countries.
