Seven Drinking Water Networks Inaugurated in Two Paktika Districts

Local officials in Afghanistan’s Paktika province have said that seven drinking water networks have been put into service in the Wur Mamati and Trow districts at a cost of 22 million afghanis.

According to the officials, the projects included the drilling of seven wells to a depth of 60 to 90 metres, the laying of nearly 22,000 metres of piping, and the construction of seven water reservoirs with a capacity of up to 40 cubic metres.

Local officials said that with the completion of these networks, hundreds of families have gained access to clean drinking water.

Paktika is one of Afghanistan’s southeastern provinces, and a number of its remote areas face shortages of basic services, including access to drinking water.
