National Resistance Front calls for UN probe into alleged Taliban abuse of Hasib Panjshiri’s body
Abdullah Khanjani, head of the political office of the National Resistance Front, has called on the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) and international human rights bodies to investigate and document the desecration of Hasib Panjshiri’s body.
Khanjani wrote on X on Sunday, 1 Sunbula, that the request followed the publication of videos showing Taliban fighters treating the body of the National Resistance Front commander in an insulting manner.
He said: “Such acts are a grave violation of international humanitarian law, especially Common Article 3 of the Geneva Conventions, and amount to a war crime.”
Hasib Panjshiri, one of the commanders of the National Resistance Front, was killed last weekend in an ambush by Taliban forces in northern Salang. Salang is considered one of the key transit routes between northern and central Afghanistan.
