Taliban says distribution of uniforms to remaining security forces continues

The Taliban’s Interior Ministry says 95% of its security forces across Afghanistan are wearing uniforms, and the distribution process for the remaining personnel is still under way.
Abdul Matin Qani, spokesperson for the Taliban-run Interior Ministry, said: “Almost 95% of our security forces are equipped with uniforms, and they are obliged to wear uniforms.” According to the ministry, committees have also been set up in all provinces to monitor the implementation of this process.
Some Kabul residents say it is important for security forces to wear uniforms so that responsible officials can be distinguished from unaccountable individuals and potential abuses can be reduced.
The Taliban-run Interior Ministry had previously also announced oversight of the use of official uniforms by police forces in the capital and provinces. Police are among the bodies under this ministry and are responsible for maintaining public order and handling a significant number of security and criminal incidents.
