Taliban Delegation Travels to Belarus for Economic Talks

A 13-member delegation led by Ataullah Omari, acting minister of agriculture, irrigation and livestock in the Taliban administration, has travelled to Belarus to attend the second meeting of the Afghanistan-Belarus Joint Commission for Economic and Trade Cooperation.
The Taliban administration’s Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock said the visit came in response to an official invitation from Belarus. According to the ministry, the talks during the trip will focus on expanding economic and trade cooperation and strengthening relations between the two sides.
According to the published information, the delegation includes the deputy minister of industry and commerce, representatives from the ministries of agriculture, transport and aviation, finance, foreign affairs and trade, a number of representatives from state-owned companies, and a representative from the Office of the Economic Deputy of the Prime Minister.
The Taliban administration said members of the delegation will hold talks with Belarusian officials during the visit on creating the conditions for expanding joint cooperation between the two countries. The trip and the second meeting of the Afghanistan-Belarus Joint Commission for Economic and Trade Cooperation will last five days.
Belarus is a country in Eastern Europe, and in recent years the Taliban administration has sought to expand its economic relations with a number of regional and non-regional countries, although no specific details have yet been released about the practical outcomes of this latest meeting.
