Heavy Rain and Hail Damage Two Thousand Jeribs of Farmland in Nangarhar

Severe rainfall, hail, and storms in several areas of Hesarak district in Nangarhar province have destroyed crops on about two thousand jeribs of farmland. According to officials from the provincial Agriculture Department, the natural events have damaged the cultivation of beans, sorghum, vegetables, and several other crops. A precise assessment of the financial losses caused by these events has not yet been released.

Local authorities have stated that efforts are underway to support affected farmers. They added that, utilizing available resources and in coordination with humanitarian organizations, measures will be taken to provide assistance and support to those impacted.

Nangarhar province is one of the agriculturally focused provinces in eastern Afghanistan, where a large portion of the district residents earn their living through farming. Therefore, the damages resulting from natural disasters could have a serious impact on the economic conditions of farming families.
