Taliban Authorities Report Seizure of 91 Firearms and Significant Military Equipment in Helmand

The Taliban administration has announced that over the past five months, 91 firearms and a considerable amount of military equipment have been discovered and confiscated in Helmand province; an action carried out following security forces’ operations.
According to the Helmand police command under Taliban rule, these weapons were identified in Lashkar Gah city and several districts of the province by members of the counter-terrorism department. The agency stated that among the seized weapons were 59 pistols, 8 Kalashnikov rifles, 21 machine guns, 2 TT pistols, one rocket launcher, 1,967 laser devices, 4 armored shields, numerous military antennas, and thousands of rounds of light and heavy ammunition.
The Taliban administration also announced the discovery of 3.2 tons of other military equipment and added that 30 individuals have been arrested in connection with the case. According to the authority, those detained intended to illegally transfer these weapons and have been referred to judicial and legal institutions after their files were completed.
Helmand province, located in southern Afghanistan, has long been considered one of the country’s insecure regions, with frequent reports of weapons and ammunition seizures published over the years.
