Iraqi Prime Minister to Visit Tehran Next Week Following U.S. Trip

Iraqi media sources have reported that Ali Faleh al-Zaydi, the Prime Minister of Iraq, will travel to Tehran next week after concluding his official visit to the United States. It is said that this trip is in response to an invitation from Masoud Pezeshkian, the Iranian President.
According to reports, the aim of this official visit is to strengthen bilateral relations between Baghdad and Tehran and to discuss shared issues. Iraqi media have emphasized that the talks will focus on topics of mutual importance to both countries.
However, Iraqi sources have not released further details regarding the exact timing, agenda, or duration of the Prime Minister’s stay in Tehran.
Al-Zaydi is currently in Washington, engaging in official discussions with American officials about security cooperation, economic ties, as well as certain regional and international matters.
Some political observers believe that the Iraqi Prime Minister’s visit to Tehran immediately following his meetings in the U.S. reflects Baghdad’s effort to maintain balance in its foreign relations and to play a mediator role among regional and international powers—a strategy that has become increasingly significant amid recent regional tensions.
