Afghan Taekwondo Athlete Mohammad Hossein Taqwa Wins Silver in Malaysia

Mohammad Hossein Taqwa, a taekwondo athlete from Afghanistan, won the silver medal at the 18th International Open Taekwondo Championships in Malaysia. The competition took place on Sunday, July 12, with athletes from 12 countries participating.

Representing Afghan immigrants in Malaysia, Taqwa defeated his opponent from Pakistan in the preliminary rounds. He then secured a place in the final by winning against the Indonesian representative.

In the final match, the Afghan athlete faced the host country’s representative and, after a close contest, was defeated, earning the runner-up position.

This edition of the championships featured 15 athletes from Afghanistan, including girls, competing in various age categories. Previously, Taqwa had also won a gold medal in the junior category and a silver medal in the youth category at the 17th Classic World Open Taekwondo Championships in Malaysia.
