Karbala Prepares for Funeral of Iran’s Martyred Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei

Iraqi officials have announced that necessary arrangements have been made to hold the funeral ceremony for the pure body of Grand Ayatollah Martyr Seyed Ali Khamenei (may God have mercy on him) in Najaf al-Ashraf and Karbala al-Mu’alla. The event is set to be held with widespread public participation in these two holy cities.
Qasim al-Yasari, head of the Karbala provincial council, stated that all preparations in the province have been made to host a magnificent ceremony. According to him, administrative and service coordination has been carried out to manage the crowd and ensure the ceremony proceeds orderly.
Earlier, the Iraqi Prime Minister’s office had instructed all administrative units and ministries to allocate buses with capacities ranging from 11 to 50 passengers for transporting participants. The purpose of this action is to facilitate the movement of mourners to and from the ceremony venues in Najaf and Karbala.
The Higher Committee for Organizing the Funeral Ceremony in Iraq announced on Thursday that millions are expected to attend the event. According to the announced plan, the pure body of the martyred leader will be transferred on July 8 from the city of Qom to Najaf al-Ashraf International Airport and then taken to the holy shrine of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) for a farewell ceremony.
Afterward, the pure body will be moved to Karbala al-Mu’alla, where the funeral procession will be held in the area between the two shrines. The body is also planned to be transferred to the shrines of Hazrat Abul-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) and Hazrat Imam Hussein (peace be upon him); subsequently, it will be transported from Najaf al-Ashraf to the holy shrine of Imam Reza (peace be upon him) in the city of Mashhad for burial.
