‘Silent Painting’ Exhibition Opens in Ghazni Showcasing 500 Local Artworks

A three-day art exhibition titled “Silent Painting” has opened in the city center of Ghazni. The event features 500 paintings created with pen and oil paint, displayed for visitors to view.

The Department of Information and Culture under the Taliban administration in Ghazni announced that the exhibition is organized in collaboration with the Artland Gallery and Ariana Educational Center. According to the department, the artworks presented are the result of local artists’ efforts and are exhibited across various sections.

The organizers have stated that the purpose of the event is to encourage artists and promote the art of painting within the community. This comes amid complaints from many artists throughout the country about restrictions and reduced work opportunities following the Taliban’s return to power, who consider such programs important for preserving visual arts.

In a statement posted on its Facebook page, the Department of Information and Culture added that it recently held a calligraphy art exhibition in cooperation with local artists at the same department. Ghazni is recognized as one of Afghanistan’s provinces with a rich cultural and historical background, and artists in this region are striving to keep artistic activities alive despite existing challenges.
