EU Supports Women’s Empowerment Initiatives in Badakhshan, Afghanistan

The European Union has announced that empowering women and girls is at the heart of its aid programs for the people of Afghanistan. In Badakhshan province, in partnership with several international organizations, it is providing educational and economic opportunities.
According to information released by the EU delegation in Afghanistan, these programs are implemented in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the ACTED institute, and the ACF organization. The main focus of these initiatives is to enhance skills, increase professional capacities, and create income-generating opportunities for women and girls.
Badakhshan is a northeastern province of the country where many residents face economic challenges and a lack of employment opportunities. Developing technical and vocational skills for women in these areas can play an important role in improving family livelihoods.
The European Union has previously emphasized that within its humanitarian aid framework, special attention is given to supporting the rights and social and economic participation of Afghan women. This effort is considered crucial in the current circumstances to maintain women’s active presence in society.
