Amnesty International Warns of Rising Deportations of Afghan Migrants

Amnesty International has warned that millions of Afghan migrants around the world face the risk of deportation, with the rate of forced returns increasing daily.
According to the human rights organization, many Afghan migrants in host countries are subjected to arbitrary detentions and family separations. Meanwhile, those returned to Afghanistan face severe humanitarian and livelihood challenges amidst one of the world’s most critical crises.
Amnesty International emphasized that the unlawful deportation of Afghan citizens must be halted immediately and that individuals in need of international protection should be safeguarded in accordance with international human rights laws.
With Afghanistan under Taliban rule experiencing widespread economic crisis, severe social restrictions, and reduced access to essential services, forced returns could expose migrants to greater risks. Human rights groups have previously called on the international community to take serious responsibility in protecting Afghan refugees.
