US Official Announces End of Strait of Hormuz Naval Blockade Following Iran Agreement

A US official has announced that the naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz will end on Friday after the formal signing of an agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran. Speaking to CNN, the official stated that the US military has been ordered to end the blockade on that day.
According to the official, the implementation of this decision is contingent upon the finalization and official signing of the agreement between the two parties. He also added that conditions could change prior to Friday.
Meanwhile, the Secretariat of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council released a statement early this morning announcing the finalization of a memorandum of understanding related to the end of the war negotiations between Iran and the US. The statement noted that after several months of intense negotiations and based on a resolution by the Supreme National Security Council, the document was finalized on the evening of June 14.
According to this agreement, war and military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon, will be immediately and permanently halted, and the naval blockade against Iran will also be immediately and completely ended. The official signing of this memorandum of understanding is scheduled for Friday, June 19.
The Strait of Hormuz is considered one of the most strategic energy transit chokepoints in the world, and any changes in its status have widespread regional and international repercussions.
