US Military Announces Continued Blockade of Iranian Ports Until Friday Amid Pending Agreement

The US military has announced that the blockade of Iranian ports will continue until Friday and will remain in place until a final agreement is signed in person between Tehran and Washington. According to Reuters, the memorandum of understanding had previously been agreed upon remotely and is now set to be officially signed.

Under the terms of this memorandum, a 60-day ceasefire will be established across all conflict fronts, including Lebanon. Additionally, as part of the agreement, the Strait of Hormuz will be reopened, and the naval blockade implemented during Donald Trump’s presidency will be lifted.

The US military statement added that discussions on other issues, including Iran’s nuclear dossier and how sanctions will be lifted, will be postponed to a 60-day negotiation period following the official signing of the memorandum. This period is intended to provide a clearer framework for resolving remaining disputes.

The US military has also urged all vessels that were damaged during the blockade of Iranian ports to refrain from any movement until further instructions are issued. No further details have been released regarding the number of affected ships or the extent of the damage.
