Kabul to Host Regional Meeting with Central Asia and Azerbaijan Representatives

The Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that Kabul will host a regional meeting on Tuesday, June 16, with representatives from Central Asian countries and the Republic of Azerbaijan. According to the announcement, the main focus of the discussions will be regional security and stability, economic cooperation, and expanding regional connectivity.

The ministry’s statement said the purpose of the meeting is to strengthen regional cooperation and explore ways to develop trade, transit, and investment among the participating countries. The Taliban administration emphasizes expanding economic and transit relations despite Afghanistan facing extensive challenges in international interactions following recent political developments.

Senior officials and experts from Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and the Republic of Azerbaijan are expected to attend the meeting. So far, no further details have been released regarding the exact level of participation or the detailed agenda of the meeting.

Due to its geographical location, Afghanistan lies between Central and South Asia and has always been recognized as an important regional transit route. However, the practical realization of regional projects depends on establishing sustainable stability and political trust between Kabul and neighboring countries—an ongoing significant test for the Taliban administration.
