535 Afghan Migrant Families Return from Pakistan and Iran in One Day

The High Commission for Addressing Migrant Issues, affiliated with the Taliban administration, announced that on Sunday, 535 Afghan families returned to the country from Pakistan and Iran. According to the commission’s statement, these families entered Afghanistan through the Torkham border in Nangarhar, Spin Boldak in Kandahar, Weshkho in Nimroz, and Islam Qala in Herat.

Details reveal that 464 families entered via Torkham, 44 families through Spin Boldak, 42 families through Weshkho, and 21 families through Islam Qala. Additionally, on the same day, a total of 3,909 migrants and 861 passengers returned to Afghanistan via the Nimroz route.

The commission stated that a day earlier, hundreds of returning families at Torkham, Spin Boldak, Herat, Nimroz, and Kabul had received assistance. This aid included registration, transportation, cash assistance, temporary shelter, and the distribution of 557 SIM cards.

The commission also added that returning families were provided with information regarding migration, patience and tolerance, education, and matters related to the ‘Islamic system.’ However, the continued influx of returnees comes amid prior complaints by many of the returnees about the lack of job opportunities, stable housing, and basic services in several provinces.

Furthermore, on Thursday, 806 additional families received land plots. According to the commission, the total number of distributed plots has reached 44,986 so far. The process of land distribution and assistance to returning migrants continues.
